Medieval Days at Voergaard, AD 1533
Middelalderdage på Voergaard
Dronninglund, Brønderslev (Nordjylland region)

The Event

Dronninglund town is located in the Region Nordjylland on the peninsula of Jutland's eastern coast in northern Denmark. In about 10 km north from the town centre is situated Voergaard Castle - Denmark’s most beautiful renaissance manor house.

Every summer the Castle hosts Medieval Days, attracting great number of visitors to experience medieval everyday life of 1533, when the territory of the castle belonged to Bishop of Børglum Stygge Krumpen. Craftsmen and tradesmen offer their goods, nuns and monks can be heard singing blissfully. Mercenaries exercise in warfare, musicians and street performers show their artistic skills, while food is simmering on the grill and bread is baked for the bishop’s dining table. The huge trebuchet is fired, and formidable knights fight each other with lances in impressive tournaments.
