The Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum Ecomuseum, which consists of 14 departments scattered around the Ringkøbing Fjord on the west coast of Jutland peninsula, is a combination of culture and nature aimed to promote the "environment education" in Denmark. The oldest departments date to 1908, while the nature-school and historical workshops are from 1995 (Dejbjerg Jernalder) and 2000 (Bork Vikingehavn).

The Bork Viking Harbour is located in the territory of Hemmet, a small town and a parish in the former Egvad municipality, which since 1 January 2007 is part of the Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality, in Midtjylland region. The upcoming Viking town at Bork Viking Harbour is taking shape. Hedeby-type houses and the area around them will host Viking crafts, school services and living history demonstrations. The idea in the education is learning about nature, biodiversity, environment and sustainable living in the nature. All the crafts in the historical workshops, like iron smelting and construction work, are faithfully performed according to the archaeological reaserches and findings. At Bork Viking Harbour the visitors can travel 1000 years back in time and meet the Vikings, warriors and artisans, masters and mistress, and try various historically faithful live-in activities. The site offers also exhibitions and films about the Viking Age and a merry Viking's playground for the children. During the season living history activities are to be experienced every day at Bork Viking Harbour, so the guests can come up with the sailor on rowing along the fjord, visit the merchant ship to see many exciting goods, or have a walk around the Viking farm, using the opportunity to sit around the big fire next to the Vikings, bake a flat bread and learn about daily life of men and women in the settlement and much more.

Every year in Summer the Bork Viking Harbour hosts the Viking Market, an event attracting visitors and reenactors from all over Denmark and Europe and an amazing chance to travel back in time and discover how the Vikings once lived.
