The Event

Colmars (or Colmars-les-Alpes) is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France, situated at the confluence of the Verdon and Lance rivers. During the 17th century, Colmars was on the frontier between France and Savoy. In 1692-1700 Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban (1633-1707), Seigneur de Vauban and later Marquis de Vauban, who was also a Marshal of France and the foremost military engineer of his age, proposed several improvements to the two main fortifications of Colmars – Fort de France and Fort de Savoie.

After seven years of success with the show "Bienvenue Monsieur de Vauban", the town of Colmars-les-Alpes launched a new theatrical creation to tell the story of Vauban city, with the most remarkable heritage sites of the town (like Fort de France, Porte de France, Place St Jean, Place de l'Arsenal, Rempart du Barry Pace Neuve, Rampart Porte de Savoie, Fort de Savoie) serving as an ideal setting for the reconstructed tableaux vivants, providing an exciting journey through time and space involving the visitors in a sort of interactive investigation that is both entertaining and educational. During this journey through time and space, in the pursuit of the mysterious Dame Blanche, the partecipatns will meet great figures such as François I, Napoleon Bonaparte, and of course Vauban himself. Theatre, music and dance performances by street artists accompany the wandering event.
