Festival Arelate, Arles Roman Days
Le Festival Arelate, journées romaines d'Arles
21-27.08.2017 to be confirmed
Arles (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region)

The Event

The city of Arles (Arelate in ancient Latin) is located in the south of France, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. The Romans took the town in 123 BC and expanded it into a city of considerable importance in the Roman province of Gallia Narbonensis, with a canal link to the Mediterranean Sea. Today, the Roman and Romanesque Monuments of Arles are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Festival Arelate, dedicated to the Roman Age, since 2007 draws its inspiration from the site of Arles, where the fabulous legacy of Rome is still so intensely present and integral to daily life. Arelate is a summer event that combines historical accuracy, the pleasure of discovery and usability by giving life to the ancient heritage of the city. The program, unique and varied, was designed accordingly to the general public, to provide the opportunity to discover the ancient heritage of the place and learn more about life and traditions of the Roman period.
